While those in power complain that nobody shows up at these meetings, one has to ask “Why”.
Perhaps it has to do with the fact that, unless you are among the privileged few that are advised in advance to be there, you don’t know when they are happening or what will be discussed.
Nevertheless, if you appear at a meeting of the town council and complain or voice objections to something on that night’s agenda, you will inevitably be asked, “Why didn’t you show up at the subcommittee to say this?”
Never mind that the town website, in the 21st century, doesn’t make this information available.
Therefore it is a rare opportunity to make you aware of what is on the agenda for Vice Chairman Clemence’s meeting of the Education and Human Services subcommittee scheduled for Tuesday, May 15 at 7 pm in the Rice conference room.
Here is the agenda for that meeting:
A meeting of the Education & Human Services Subcommittee has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 7:00 PM in the Rice Conference Room
AGENDA
1. Discuss and vote to approve the conclusion to the Open Meeting Law Complaint submitted by Ann Fenwick-Beinema regarding EHS meeting of 8/2/11 “failing to include sufficient detail in the notice and minutes” and to accept revised minutes as amended 5/1/12.
2. Update on the reorganization of Cable Operations
3. Trash Enforcement Efforts Update
4. Recycling Concepts – Kevin Buxton
I would suggest that if there aren't any items on this agenda that affect you directly, then you are probably a resident of one of the many cemeteries in town.
