Have you even seen those lovely shared bikes around the city? Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, London - we all covered with convenience to "rent a bike for $5 a day". Do you love to read fine prints as I do?

First of all, if you live in Toronto, you have to join the club for $95 a year. Then, you will be in slightly better conditions than our poor warmly welcomed tourists.

See what I've calculated.

How much "rent a bike for $5 a day" really cost?

$250 security deposit, max 2 per credit card (held every day you rent!).
$5 for 24hr access or $12 for 72hr. For that you can get: 30 mins free, up to 60 min $1,5 up to 90 min $4, THEN $8 every additional HALF AN HOUR!

So to rent a bike for 4 hours would cost you $5+$4+$40(30min x 5 x $8)= $49 for 5 hours= $65 for 6 hours=$81

Now, imagine the situation when you are with your lovely someone doing touristy things in Toronto and deciding to rent two bikes for four days (may be within 2 weeks of your stay), say each time for 4 hours.

The math:

- credit card holds: $250x2=$500 x 4days = $2000
- rental fee $49x2x4 = $392
