Remember a couple of months ago when Republicans were blaming President Obama for high gas prices?Remember when Newt Gingrich tried to revive his Presidential campaign with unfounded promises of $2.50 gasoline?
When was the last time gas prices were dropping before, during and after the Memorial Day weekend?
Now, if I wanted to spout an ideological agenda, I could say that this is a result of President Obama’s rose garden news conference where he pledged Administration action to crack down on oil speculators. But that would be as hypocritical as those who sought to blame him for the increase in oil prices following the 2008 economic meltdown.
The reality is that in both cases the results were dependent upon international factors that swamp most if not all domestic policies in the short and intermediate term.
